Churchill & Banks is developing this new Verizon Wireless store located on Woodbury Avenue in Portsmouth, NH. The existing 30 year old Kentucky Friend Chicken building will be renovated and expanded to a 4000 square foot building; Dooling, Woods, Brier Architects are working closely with Churchill & Banks to meet Verizons prototype specifications.

The redevelopment of this 15 acre site presented numerous challenges, as 14.6 acres of existing wetlands surround the building envelope. Two zoning variances were obtained by Churchill & Banks to work though the challenges the site presented; Churchill & Banks worked very closely with the City of Portsmouths Planning Board, Zoning Board, and Conservation Commission to obtain site plan approval, as well as the required permits and variances within three months of filing the first application. Construction for the store will begin in September 2008, and the store will be open for business by January 2009.
